Things we have learned while painting our home & thought we would share.. 1. Instead of painting your ceiling white, paint your ceiling the same color as your walls but a lighter shade. Example we painted our walls BM Swiss Coffee 75% strength and our ceiling the same colors but at 25%. (All paint colors are at 100% and you can change the strength by adding more white to the paint. The lower the percent the more white so 75% is less white than 25%). 2. Color drenching..you have probably been seeing this everywhere lately. It is the idea of painting your walls and ceiling the same color, usually the trim as well. Color drenching creates a more dramatic, cohesive & cozy room. Would you try these in your home? Got so tired of constantly playing catch-up that I finally decluttered my home for peace. Postpartum life in a fixer-upper I regretted was the catalyst I needed. If you’re overwhelmed in any area of your life, declutter, clean, and reset your space. A tidy, organized home creates clarity you can feel. After spending the last year decluttering my entire home, I’m sharing the exact steps that helped me finally feel calm, clear, and in control. Everyone’s home and life look different, so take what works for you and leave what doesn’t — this is just inspiration and ideas. 1️⃣ First pass: I went through my entire home quickly and decluttered as much as I could without making big decisions. Just removing obvious, bigger items gave me instant relief and made a real dent in a project I didn’t have time for. 2️⃣ Second pass: I went room by room, drawer by drawer, section by section. Slow, intentional, but manageable. 3️⃣ Third pass: I repeated the whole process again with a fine-tooth comb — every corner, every cabinet, every category. 4️⃣ Home for everything: After decluttering, I made sure every single item had a designated home. This changed everything. 5️⃣ Decision-free bin: Anything I couldn’t decide on went into a bin in our basement. It took the pressure off, cleared the space, and still gave me relief. I’m now going back through those bins one at a time. This entire process made me calmer, helped my home run better, and truly made our life easier. Before organizing, I spent the past year decluttering every single item in our home. Once the clutter was gone, organizing finally made sense. A lightweight, cozy layer like an Alpha Cruiser is perfect for hikes in cooler temps. It has an amazing warmth to weight ratio. 🛌 Double up on sleeping pads: The ground will feel extra cold this time of year. Bring a sleeping pad with high R-value or double up with a foam Z-pad. 🍁 Swap your summer sleeping bag/quilt for a warmer one: Use a bag rated at least 10°F lower than the expected nighttime temperatures. If you only have an all-season sleeping bag, add a liner which can add up to 10 degrees. 🤚 Bring hand & toe warmers: These are great whether you’re hiking on the trail or tucked in for the night. We love sticking toe warmers on our socks at night to keep our feet warm. 🪶 Bring warm down jackets for at camp: Once you stop moving, the temperature drops fast. ✨Flooring Reveal!✨ Years ago, we installed flooring from Costco in a previous house and were so impressed — it was easy to install, amazing quality, and held up perfectly over the years. For the cabin, we wanted something durable and waterproof, so LVP was an easy choice. Once I decided on that, I checked to see if the same brand was still at Costco — and sure enough, Golden Select still supplies their flooring there! Going with them again was a no-brainer! Now let’s talk about the colour. I wanted something that complemented the existing pine ceiling without being too matchy-matchy, and this one is perfect.
