For most of my twenties, I spent money to keep up with everyone. I chased trends, bought the clothes and the makeup everyone else had, said yes to every happy hour, every brunch, every weekend trip. My ADHD diagnosis at 30 was my wake up call. For the first time in my life, my brain made sense. The impulsive spending, the dopamine chasing, the avoidance, the “I’ll deal with it later,” the shame spirals, all of it finally had a reason. I realized I wasn’t “bad with money.” I was unmedicated, overwhelmed, and trying my best with the tools I had. Once I started medication and began healing, it felt like someone turned on the lights in a room I had been stumbling around in for years. I could see the patterns. I could see the habits. I could see the numbers. And instead of panicking, I finally felt ready to make a plan. This year hasn’t been perfect. But it has been honest. And healing. And grounding. I learned that financial health isn’t about deprivation, it’s about safety. It’s about being able to trust yourself. I’m learning discipline without shame. Structure without suffocation. Goals without self-hatred. I’m learning to slow down, to check in, to ask myself, “Do I want this, or am I trying to soothe something?” I’m learning how to pause long enough to make clear minded decisions.
Not judging the girl I used to be she helped me find this version of me. I still love a good time, but peace, discipline, and purpose hit different when you’ve been through the storm. Becoming her has been the hardest and best thing I’ve ever done. 💖

I’m getting so close to being in the teens! I can’t believe it!!! I’ve shown up for myself every single day. Not perfectly, but consistently. Just steady effort. Over and over. Those first 2 weeks felt brutal. Like hiking straight uphill in full sun. Now it feels natural. Like walking a beautiful flat trail in crisp fall air! DISCIPLINE GETS EASIER! Your body learns. Your identity shifts. I’m not just losing weight. I’m gaining trust in myself again. 🩵 If you’re new here, hi! I’m Natalie! I’m 39, 5’9”, a mom of 4 boys, and have spent the last 10 years pregnant or breastfeeding. It’s been the most beautiful, wild ride for my body. Now that our 2 year old weaned this spring, my body is just *mine* again. I started workout classes over the summer. I built strength and skill, but lost 0 pounds. Ha! I was this 🤏🏼 close to trying a GLP-1 (no judgment!), but after seeing the cost + potential side effects, I decided to go all in on doing it naturally first. its working! 11 weeks ago, I started a high-protein calorie deficit working with my Nutrition Coach @nutritionwithlo on Instagram. It has been BEYOND helpful having her guidance. I’m weighing everything I eat, tracking every gram, and my body fat is melting away! Here’s what’s working for me: 1️⃣ High-protein calorie deficit — 1900 calories/day, at least 185g protein. (I have What I Eat In A Day reels on my page!) 2️⃣ Eat protein within 30 mins of waking, then meals every 2–3 hours. 3️⃣ Zero alcohol, refined sugar, seed oils, or processed foods. Focusing a ton on single ingredient foods. 4️⃣ Lift heavy 4x a week 5️⃣ At least 10k steps a day 6️⃣ 7+ hours of sleep. 7️⃣ Staying hydrated (80oz+ of water + electrolytes daily). 8️⃣ No cheat days (for now!) you’ll want to pop the volume on for this one 😅 lately I’ve been feeling the pressure of all the outside noise - especially in the fitness space - calling people lazy or undisciplined for not hitting their goals (i used to have this mindset🫣) but it’s just not sitting right with me anymore. a life without the responsibility of caring for children or family is a completely different reality to living with that responsibility. Just feeling chatty and wanted to verbally process some things that I’m learning about myself recently. I’ve been trying for years to become more of a morning person and while I have made a lot of progress there are just some limitations to it at this time and I feel like rather than trying to force my body to function in a way that doesn’t come naturally, it would be better for my mental health if I just leaned into my bodies natural rhythm instead. I’m a firm believer in intuition based self improvement which to me means really tuning in to my experience, listening to my body, doing what feels aligned in each different moment, and regularly checking in with myself to see what’s working and what isn’t. To me, it’s devotion over harsh discipline. That being said, upon recent introspection I just realized that trying to force my body into a rhythm that creates more stress just because I like the idea of being a morning person is doing more harm than good. Now that I’m choosing to lean into my natural rhythm and use it to my benefit I’m feeling a lot less stress, im feeling more well prepared, organized and efficient rather than chaotic, I’m actually looking forward to waking up in the morning because I know I’ve set myself up for a more ease-filled introduction to the new day and doing all the things I wanted to do in a morning routine in the evening has felt more aligned and more tangibly beneficial than the morning routine ever did. It’s all just about finding what works for you as an individual and that is and ongoing life lesson that I’m learning different layers of everyday. 🙏🏼
