THE MOST EPIC MAGICAL CAMPSITE IN CALIFORNIA - BIG PINE LAKES 👣: Big Pine Lakes Trail 📍: Eastern Sierras, near Bishop, CA 🥾 : ~15.2miles to round all of the lakes. Shorter if you choose to just do a few lakes. ⬆️ : ~4,000ft elevation change 😅 : Hard 🏕 : Yes! You can camp the lakes, but our favorite campsite was at the second lake. 💧 : Yes 🎫 : Yes, you need to receive a permit to backpack into Big Pine Lakes in the Inyo National Wilderness. Permits can be found at http://recreation.gov , but permits for this hike usually get bought out first. You can do this on a day hike without permits. I drove from Vegas to Cathedral Gorge to see if it was worth the hype 👀 So, was it worth the drive? 👉 If you’re already passing through — 100%. It’s a photographer’s dream with fun, short trails and super clean campsites. 👉 If you’re going just for this — maybe not.
