✨Flooring Reveal!✨ Years ago, we installed flooring from Costco in a previous house and were so impressed — it was easy to install, amazing quality, and held up perfectly over the years. For the cabin, we wanted something durable and waterproof, so LVP was an easy choice. Once I decided on that, I checked to see if the same brand was still at Costco — and sure enough, Golden Select still supplies their flooring there! Going with them again was a no-brainer! Now let’s talk about the colour. I wanted something that complemented the existing pine ceiling without being too matchy-matchy, and this one is perfect. It’s called Vintage Oak, and you can find it (and other shades) at Costco! I can not believe the difference the flooring made in here! I’ve seen all kinds of DIY arched openings and usually they involve some precise cutting of circles and drywall magic. I found these pre-made drywall arches that come in all sizes to accommodate all shapes of openings and curves and are made to fit 2x6” or 2x4” framing. No need to try to nicely finish off a curved piece of drywall! Something tells me I’m onto something good!! Have you seen these before? We opted to create little “corbels” out of these arches using additional framing but they are made to easily blend in with drywall if you want a smooth curve. We saved so much money doing this ourselves! This was our first time DIY’ing self levelling concrete and I was so nervous that we were going to mess this up. It really was not that difficult and I’m so excited to have flat and level floors now! My daughter asked if we could make something for Halloween and that’s always going to be a yes from me. She has been very busy with midterms at college and one night we were working on this together she literally said, “I needed this.” We ordered a “giant spider” online and he was seriously underwhelming. We had ordered a new sofa lately that came wrapped in all this plastic so we decided to try and beef him up using that. I used a grey faux fur blanket that we cut up for the body and attached it with hot glue! It was simple and fun! You can find all the supplies we used to make him on the blog! Thanks so much to my mom for tackling that difficult cushion, she is amazing isn’t she? Also thanks to Tonic Living who gave me this fabric when they heard about the project, thank goodness they still carried it! I found the original chair in a thrift store in 2019 and refinished it. It’s been one of my favorite thrift finds ever with the cool slat back. When the exact same chair popped up on Facebook Marketplace 5 years later, well, there was only one thing I could do. Would you ever try a project like this?
