With a 5, 3 and 1 year old, I quickly realized an overstimulated, frazzled mom only made my toddlers more unregulated. My vibe sets the tone of the house, especially on nights like this one where I’m solo with the kids after daycare pickup. It has taken time but I’ve been working hard to be CALM & more relaxed, which has made a huge difference in how I show up in all aspects of my life. If this is something you could use some help with, give me a follow! #RegulatedMama #GentleParenting #ToddlerLife #PeacefulParenting #CycleBreaker • regulated mom • nervous system reset • toddler meltdowns • breaking cycles • gentle parenting moments
If no one ever warned you about what was coming your way in early motherhood … same 🙋♀️ I thought I was prepared. I read the books. I packed the hospital bag. I stocked the freezer meals. But what every influencer I was following at the time left out was how I’d feel like I lost myself a little. Or how lonely 3AM can be. Or how your marriage shifts. Or how you second guess everything and suddenly leaving the house feels like a Herculean task. So I created this space and my website (www.itsmamameg.com) for saying the things no one says and helping moms have even a 1% better experience as a mom. I did my usual morning duties and hit the road 🤷♀️ And guess what, everyone was fine!! Sometimes as mom the list of reasons not to do something can feel so long. How will everyone do when you’re not there 😩 What about the XYZ special thing going on. Someone is sick. Again. As hard as it is to get out the door, every time I travel it’s not hard to see the upside for all involved. My kids form deeper bonds with their dad and other family members when I’m not around. I get to show up in a very different way than I would with children in tow and keep my relationships strong. I am always soooo happy to see them at the end of the trip but the time away is so important too. It can be both 🫶 So let this be your sign! Take the trip!!! And to be clear, work travel looks VERY different from a weekend away in terms of the “preloading” I may do to help out. Weekdays with drop offs and all the things are a different ballgame. motherhood • traveling as a mom • working mom • SAHM • new mom • newborn • toddler • traveling when you have young kids • marriage • partnership

I guess the tip here is just leftovers? Cook an extra recipe or just double up on whatever you’re making! Sometimes I’ll also make pasta or meal components (rice, beans) so the next day is easier. The days my husband picks up our kids are usually my cooking days. And then the days he’s in the office and I’m solo I just have to reheat and serve - so much easier when you’re this outnumbered 🙃 For picking the recipes obviously some things keep better than others so I always keep that in mind for what we eat first. I have tried true meal prepping before but I just don’t want to give up several hours on a weekend to do that - it’s our family time that we already get so little of. I never want to scare anyone but the reality is that having a newborn during RSV season can be scary. When my daughter was in the PICU as a brand new baby (17 days old) the doctors told us that RSV is the #1 cause of hospitalizations for kids of all ages, year round. The thing that makes RSV extra hard is that it’s airborne, so it sticks around in the air for hours. Which is why it’s so important to avoid crowded places or gatherings if you have a newborn. As hard as it is to miss out, there will be more holidays and chances to celebrate once baby is less vulnerable. Before leaving I asked the ICU doctors how we could protect her from other illnesses coming home with her older brothers and this is what they shared. ➡️ Wash your hands every single time before touching the baby. So if you’re playing with your toddler and baby cries, wash your hands before helping baby. ➡️ If someone is sick, quarantine them away as much as possible and thoroughly clean the high traffic areas and spaces they used. These wipes are hospital grade with bleach - will kill even norovirus. ➡️ Getting outside or opening up windows can help air out germs during the winter. We opened them for short periods daily when we got home. ➡️ Visitors should wash hands and wear masks when holding the baby. RSV for an adult may feel like nothing and it can be very serious for babies and older children too. I’ve done a lot of chats about this since my daughter was in the PICU in hopes it will help others avoid this experience. Give me a follow and check out my RSV highlight for more! moms • new mom • new parents • pregnant • winter baby • sick season • RSV season • hospitalization • how to protect a newborn •

When I had two under two I suddenly realized I couldn’t keep up with the house like I did before. And we needed to rebalance between us as partners the duties around the house (which we did) and build new habits. Follow along to learn how you can build these habits of “micro cleaning” and empowering your young kids (as little as 2!) to really help and lighten your mess stress. I’m not a mom who wakes up at 5am or does an aesthetic Sunday reset by myself on Sundays. Those aren’t strategies that work for me when I have three kids four and under. Most importantly I want my kids to build these habits too! If this sounds like your vibe, welcome!! Here’s how we get it done ⬇️ 1. Setting everything out before I leave for daycare pickup. Jammies, pull ups, diapers, everything is right where we need it so we don’t have to run all over 2. Dinner is easy. Usually involves some leftovers, pasta or even a CFA run. Not trying to win any culinary awards these nights. 3. Some extra fun goes a long way. Lining up their toys by the bath, putting their stuffies on silly spots helps buy me some extra time these nights. 4. After dinner we all do a quick clean up - usually baby is strapped onto me or in her seat. The last thing I want to do after they’re all down is start cleaning. 5. We make the “night night choo choo train” as we go through the put down process. First stop, bath, then Jammie’s and brush teeth, then we put baby sister down. Each kiddo picks a role (conductor, caboose) and they love doing the “chugga chugga choo chooooo” all over the house. 6. I always expect it to take longer than usual. That is okay and it only gets easier!!! Working Mom problems! 🫣 Any tips yall have for staying healthy during sick season, drop em below! We try to eat as many “whole foods” as we can but certainly aren’t perfect and lately have been having way too much sugar. We still use the unflavored toddler vitamins daily in the boys water bottles for school + probiotic drops and I do think it helps! They’ve been taking these for almost a year and don’t catch every single bug now, which counts for something! I have a code with EllaOla linked in my Codes highlight if you’re interested! Around the same time I started paying attention to what was in my own products, I realized the same care should apply to what touches my baby’s skin 24/7. Weight loss is hard for everyone but especially for moms who have ZERO time to make it happen, it can seem impossible. I know there’s a vibe out there that GLP-1s are “shortcuts” but I’ve found that you still need to put in the work. It’s not gonna grow the muscle for you. It’s not going to fuel your body for you. But it’s an amazing medication that can be a tool in your journey and help get things moving more quickly. I went with @tryshed because they have you talk to a real doctor and are transparent about exactly what you’re getting. I was nervous about the injection aspect for a minute but it’s truly NOTHING and they also have other options with no injection, if you’d prefer. So happy to chat about my experience if you’ve been considering trying one, I did a ton of research and have been really pleased with how quickly I’m seeing results and the whole experience with Shed. Our oldest is turning 5 and this was his “big gift” this year. I almost defaulted to buying the Melissa & Doug one on Amazon like I so often do out of desire for it to arrive quickly and be checked off my list. But I just couldn’t stomach the price tag - $70!?! So I did a quick search and found this one on IKEA and for less than the Melissa & Doug one I got the easel ($24) all these new supplies and smocks for painting too. I’ll link it all up for you - don’t sleep on the IKEA art supplies! Cooking after work was a HUGE struggle for me until I started doing it this way. So much more palatable to cook 2 nights a week (we order pizza on Friday) instead of 4 after a long day and trying to manage the chaos with littles after daycare. mom hacks • what’s for dinner • easy weeknight meals • easy recipes • meal prep • slow cooker • leftovers • how to eat leftovers all week long
Fully acknowledge that every house set up is different so this may or may not feel easier but if your washer is on the same floor as your kids rooms, this has been awesome for us. Fewer places to search for things. One load a day, usually run at night. Wake up and switch to dryer. That’s it. Bonus tip for my fellow ADHD suspicious moms, we add WorryFree vinegar to every load. If I forget to move it over to the dryer (it happens!!) it still doesn’t smell gross even a day later. Lifesaver. Used to rewash CONSTANTLY. Not sponsored in any way! How do you stay on top of the laundry pile? Let me know we’re washing for five over here!
