It’s been three weeks since I said hell with it and ran two miles on what I thought was an old and injured knee. For over ten years I was convinced I couldn’t, so I didn’t. Honestly, I’m furious. I had the key to the castle the whole time! Physical healing is so important but mental healing is equally powerful. YOU are powerful. If you’ve been side-lined by an injury or a life change or just haven’t laced up in awhile…this is just a reminder that it’s never too late to do what you love. And if you happen to love running , well then let’s fking gooooooo. (Slow. At our own pace*) haha ❤️
Strength in numbers! (reps) So much support for my first run I thought I’d give a lil training insight into how I got here. If you want to truly heal you can’t totally avoid discomfort. I’ve come a long way to be able to do a jump squat without pain and reverse lunges still click the tiniest bit but use it or lose it! You’re never too old (or too injured) to get stronger 💪 The Workout Jump squats (Safe and slow) Reverse lunges (with wall support) Dead bug (with resistance) Windmill with kettle bell Single-leg weighted glute bridge Cleans (and deep squats) with kettlebell March with kettle bell Wall sit with kettle bell She loves a kettle bell! 😝
Facing my fears! Full disclosure, since Nev’s accident I’ve been pretty overwhelmed and stressed. I used to always manage this kind of stress with running but since an injury in 2013, I’ve been afraid my knee will give me problems so avoided it altogether. But with the encouragement and support of my loved ones, and a HUGE emphasis on starting slow and taking it easy, I got back out there and it felt nothing short of incredible. One step at a time! And a good reminder that if you’re going through hell, KEEP GOING (and maybe run a little bit to get outta there faster) 😊#running #injury #recovery
