Teflon, also known as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), is a non-stick coating commonly used on pots and pans. It was discovered in 1938 and has since become popular for its convenience in cooking, requiring little to no oil and easy cleanup. However, there’s a hidden danger lurking in this seemingly miraculous invention—it’s harmful to your health, especially for women seeking a non-toxic lifestyle. The chemicals in PTFE, when heated, release a toxic compound called perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). This compound has been linked to various hormone-disrupting symptoms such as infertility, thyroid disease, and fetal development issues. In fact, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has labeled these compounds as “likely carcinogens.” So, what are the safe alternatives for your cookware? 1. Ceramic cookware is a popular choice as it offers a non-stick surface without the harmful chemicals PTFE and PFOA. It’s easy to maintain and comes at a comparable price to regular non-stick cookware. 2. Cast Iron is another excellent option for non-toxic cooking. Although it requires some extra care, a well-seasoned cast iron pan can provide a non-stick surface. 3. Stainless Steel is a reliable choice for non-stick cooking as well. Nasolabial fold week is a popular week because there’s a lot going on around the nose and you can accumulate excess fluid there. Many things can impact this: repetitive motion can contribute to wrinkling, tightness in the masseter can push against this area, creating deeper wrinkles, inflammation due to allergies, can cause an additional histamine response, resulting in more fluid here, etc. If you have issues with nasolabial folds, manual lymphatic drainage can also be helpful in reducing that excess accumulation of fluids.
