I call it the piggy back method and it’s totally changed the way I prepare food for my family, grocery shop, and pack for hockey tournament weekends so we don’t eat out!! Here’s how I do it: Instead of going to grocery store and throwing a bunch of stuff in the cart that will likely not all get eaten. I have a checklist! The checklist has all the ingredients I need to cook for the week I also plan my meals for the week (and weekends if away) so multiple ingredients I buy get turned into multiple meals. For example I might buy ground beef - that might become taco soup —-> Asian bolognese —> what’s left nachos Or sausage that might become sausage protein balls — Tator tot casserole I put together a months worth of easy recipes, my tournament weekend checklists, grocery shopping lists, and so much more in the hockey mom survival kit! It’s up in my bio for you to grab and start using today!! #hockeymom #momlife #easyrecipes #sportsfamily #cookingforkids

✨ Beginner cooking series! ✨ Sharing some of my favourite easy recipes, perfect for beginner cooks. Easy Peasy Fried Rice Ingredients: - 3 cups rice (cooked) - 1.5 cups peas, corn & carrot mixed (the frozen bags are perfect or you can dice your own carrot) - 1 capsicum diced - 1 brown onion diced - 2 garlic cloves diced - 5 slices bacon diced - 2 or 3 eggs - 2 sprigs spring onion - 3 tablespoons soy sauce (approx, add more if you need!) Method: - Cook bacon in the pan - Add onion & garlic, cook until softened - Add capsicum & vege, cook until softened - Push ingredients to the side & scramble eggs in pan, stir through once cooked - Add cooked rice & soy sauce (I usually add 1 tablespoon at a time until I get the flavour I’m happy with) - Top with extra spring onion & enjoy! #beginnerrecipes
✨ Beginner Cooking Series ✨ Sharing some of my favourite easy recipes that I think everyone should know how to cook! Chicken Noodle Soup Ingredients: - Whole uncooked roast chicken - Any vege you have on hand - I used capsicum, carrot, broccoli & celery - 1 large brown onion - 2 tablespoons ginger (I go hard with ginger & garlic when someone is sick!) - 5 garlic cloves - 2 cups chicken bone broth (for extra flavour - if you don’t have bone broth you can just add water!) - 3 cups chicken stock - Salt & pepper - Vermicelli noodles (optional) (I very much taste test & add as I go, but these are the approx measurements of all my tweaking throughout the cooking process!) Follow along in the video to see how I make it!
Cooking after work was a HUGE struggle for me until I started doing it this way. So much more palatable to cook 2 nights a week (we order pizza on Friday) instead of 4 after a long day and trying to manage the chaos with littles after daycare. mom hacks • what’s for dinner • easy weeknight meals • easy recipes • meal prep • slow cooker • leftovers • how to eat leftovers all week long
