Friendly reminder that dachshunds are a working/hunting breed! They need plenty of physical exercise and mental stimulation to keep them happy and fulfilled. I’m able to dress her up and take silly pics on occasional because I make sure her needs are being met on a daily basis (and she enjoys the attention and wearing clothes). We do lots of breed specific enrichment like Earthdog trials, scentwork, 1-3 hour long sniff walks daily, she digs everyday, we do lots of enrichment toys/puzzles/snuffle mats, daily training sessions, super long hikes weekly, and she’s also in training to become a therapy dog because she has such an exceptional temperament. I’ve prioritized her happiness and enrichment since she was a puppy, and I believe this is why we’re able to do silly things like wearing cute outfits a few times a month, and why she has no behavioral issues or reactivity. I think we’re seeing so many dachshunds with behavior problems and reactivity because their needs are not being met (because people aren’t doing their research on the breed prior to getting one). They will be miserable sitting in a house all day doing nothing, they’re not just a companion breed, and they’re not an easy breed. They can make excellent companions and have fantastic temperaments if their needs are being met and they come from an ethical breeder. I could rant forever about this and I know I don’t show much of this side of things on social media (the dog training side of social media is incredibly toxic and I have thin skin and want to keep our socials a positive place), but I have poured my heart and soul into making sure Clementine lives a happy and fulfilled life every single day. . . . #dachshund #dachshundsoftiktok #earthdog #canineenrichement #dogsoftiktok #minidachshund #dogs #dogenrichment #dachshunds #wienerdog #sausagedog #dackel #teckel #doxie
