We gotta talk!! These 5 myths I hear all the time and the are so so false! Starting with: 1. PMS is just part of being a woman! WRONG! PMS is common but not normal. We are taught from such a young age that our periods are painful and we just have to put up with it. Your period should consist of light symptoms that donāt really disrupt your life. If you have symptoms that are more than that, this is your bodies way of saying something is wrong! 2. Gut health has nothing to do with hormones. WRONG! There is a colony of bacteria called the estrobolome that are responsible for metabolizing and excreting estrogen. This plays a huge role in estrogen balance and therefore your cycle. 3. Birth control balances your hormones. WRONG! What birth control does is stops your natural production of hormones and replaces them with synthetic ones. So yes, your symptoms go away but can causes so many other issues. 4. Fat makes you fat. WRONG! Fat is an essential building block to creating hormones in your body. You need fat to survive and keep regular hormone balance. 5. Stress only affects your mood. WRONG! Chronic stress does so much damage to the body. It can suppress your natural hormone production because you are in a state of fight or flight. This can throw off your hormone balance. Which myth did you believe?? Donāt complicate it! Homemade cashew milk for diversity because this nutritionist usually drinks soy milk. Diversity ensures we get lots of different nutrients, plus it helps with gut health. So many benefits to keeping raw cashews on hand. No more running out to the store to buy milk when itās pouring rain and youāre cozy at home. Itās affordable in todayās economy and uses less packaging waste. š„³ Itās so easy, creamy and customizable. With me getting sick recently, Iām being extra cautious so Iād soak cashews overnight in the fridge. 1. Soak 1 cup cashews overnight in water 2. Rinse well 3. Add to high powered blender with filtered water 4. I add true cinnamon and a pinch of salt 5. Option to add a couple dates for sweetness Blend well and thatās it! Mine keeps for 3 days in the fridge. https://jordanbruce.ca/blog-recipes/creamy-homemade-cashew-milk Like & save this post so you can make it too. #cashewmilk #homemademilk #guthealthtips #easyrecipeideas #guthealthtips
GUT LOVING SMOOTHIE RECIPE š Iām always focusing on my gut health for overall health and that doesnāt stop when pregnant! I made a yummy green smoothie on a clear Fall day with lots of diversity, veggies and greens for energy. I personally donāt make iced smoothies in the cooler months. GUT LOVING GREEN SMOOTHIE - banana - sliced frozen zucchini - a few frozen purple cauliflower florets - coconut water/water - scoop of coconut kefir - a huge handful of well washed kale - small knob of ginger - flax (whole) and chia (from fridge!) - plant protein (I used @ora.organic here, code Jordan for a discount) SAVE & MAKE!! Your gut will thank you. Ps if you have histamine issues youāll likely struggle with the added ferment, but love the anti-inflammatory ginger. š« PPS This smoothie is also perfect in perimenopause!! A great amount of fibre and protein. Sign up is live for the PERIMENOPAUSE WORKSHOP Oct 28th, early bird pricing is now on. Are you still breaking out months after stopping birth control?? šø Hereās why your acne wonāt go away and some suggestions on how to help it!š§š§“⨠First off, the pill never fixed your acne! It worked by masking your natural hormones so when you come off, your bodyās trying to relearn how to make hormones again! Especially testosterone and estrogen. š± Focus on your liver! Your liver is your bodyās natural detox organ so if you have a slow liver or nutrient deficiencies this can slow down your liver production which leads to toxins not being eliminated properly which you guessed it, leads to acne! Eat liver boosting foods like: ⢠beets š«š«š« ⢠antioxidant rich fruits and veggies like blueberries, citrus fruits and bell peppers š«šš« ⢠tons of cruciferous vegetables š„¦ š„Focus on your gut health! If you donāt have a healthy gut, this can impact how you metabolize estrogen and can lead to higher levels of estrogen in the body then you want! Eat a whole foods diet and balance your blood sugar! You can add in fermented foods but if you are having GI issues you might need to get some testing done before you add in fermented foods! šNutrient depletions can make a big impact when you are trying to heal your hormones and your acne. Birth control depletes B vitamins, zinc and magnesium which are crucial to your health and liver health. If you have more specific issues feel free to reach out or schedule a FREE 20 min consult with me!! šš dm me or use the link in my bio #lifestyleforhormones #hormonefriendlyliving #holisticlifestyle #wellnessforwomen #hormonebalance
WHY YOU SHOULD EAT OATS & FRUIT Oatmeal: research shows beta-glucan in oats has possible cholesterol lowering and anti diabetic effects. Cardiovascular disease & type 2 diabetes are the top disease and mortality burdens worldwide. Grains are high in fibre which the gut microbiome thrives on. Good bacteria help digest food, support immunity and lower inflammation. I can always tell when people eat grain free when I see their GI-MAP because they have such low commensal bacteria. Consumption of oats significantly increased Akkermansia muciniphila & Roseburia bacteria. Oats are a great prebiotic food to help feed your good bacteria so eat up. I like steel cut for a bowl of oats and old fashion in baking. PMID 34828872 34444718 344956218 FRUIT: I find it odd people avoid fruit, but drink sugary alcohol or drink pop. Sorry, but fruit is loaded with benefits from fibre to vitamins and polyphenols (maybe youāve heard of anthocyanins?). Polyphenols have antioxidant & anti-inflammatory properties. Fruit help prevent constipation, IBS, IBD, reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, lowering the risk of depression, supports higher bone density & more. Whole fruits are ideal versus juice due to delayed gastric emptying (thanks fibre!). Donāt fear sugar in fruit! PMID 28983192 30487459 Plants contain polyphenols and fibre to feed your microbiome and reduce inflammation. If you find yourself struggling to eat grains, legumes or even fruit, apply to work on your health with me. Itās usually not the food, we just like to blame them then end up with a severely restricted diet. Itās usually your digestion, gut health and nervous system that need support. š¤ Dm me or comment HEALTH & Iāll send you more info if TikTok allows messages. #oatmeallover #oatsforbreakfast #perimenopausesupport #guthealthtips #constipationrelief
